The Nickel Initiative (NI) 2023 Business Conference is a flagship project of the Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA). It forms part of PNIA’s Nickel Initiative advocacy, a platform designed to promote dialogue, knowledge sharing, and convergence among stakeholders. Through this advocacy, PNIA seeks to help address issues that impact the competitiveness of the nickel mining industry and its goal to contribute to the country’s inclusive growth efforts.

The NI 2023 Business Conference is a venue towards strengthening collaborative efforts among key players in the public and private sectors. It shall serve as a convergence point wherein key stakeholders will discuss and further assess the recommendations and proposed actions that were forwarded at the series of NI Roundtable Discussions1 which PNIA hosted in March and May 2023.

Convening the NI 2023 Business Conference is PNIA’s way to support the government’s call to accelerate the growth of the mining sector while ensuring sustainable environment practices and promoting shared responsibility among industry players.

Specifically, through the event, PNIA hopes to contribute towards 1) enticing increased investments in the nickel industry particularly in nickel mining and value-add processing, 2) addressing gaps in the implementation of environment protection and rehabilitation, and 3) maximizing local communities’ benefits from mining in order that they may become more self-reliant even after mine life.

Around 150 stakeholders from government agencies concerned, business chambers and associations, foreign missions and international development organizations, private sector companies, the academe, and the media are expected to join the event.
