Berong Nickel Corporation continues to pour support for community development

As part of the community development support of Berong Nickel Corporation, a mining company located in Berong, Quezon, Palawan, it has released around 294 million pesos already providing financial resources among dedicated key sectors, beneficiaries that include tribal and local community members.

In an exclusive interview of Palawan Daily News, Resident Mine Manager of Berong Nickel Corporation Engr. Mark Raymund L. Zamora bared that they have already turned over their financial support to the community and added that they are humbled with their achievements at the same time.

“Kami po sa BNC ay proud hindi lamang sa pag exceed namin sa aming compliance at dahil narin sa aming mga nakuhang accomplishments na nakuha sa mga nakaraang taon. Ang BNC ay may safety and health programs. Kami po ay nahirang na safest surface mine at safest metallic mine. At testament ng aming proyekto ay ang pagkakaroon naming ng Zero Fatality since the inception ng aming proyekto,” said Engr. Zamora.

“Under naman sa aming community relations, nakapag release na ng pondo ang companya under community royalty development program na 129 million pesos, and Social Development and Management Program ay 165 million pesos,” he said.

Engr. Zamora also added that the company has various programs on environmental protection and enhancement program and has been recently certified in ISO 14001, also known as the Environmental Management System, one of the international standards that set companies in higher level of compliance and conformity to specific requirements in the industry.

Berong Nickel Corporation has been supporting livelihood projects in the community that include banana plantation, rice and livestock production, seaweeds farming, and many others. It has also been supporting the education sector by providing scholarship programs and providing transportation to students from their schools and homes every day.

“Sa BNC, nais namin mag iwan ng magandang legacy sa community kung saan kami nag operate. Nais namin na tao na magsasabi na – ‘Ah, BNC – Okay ‘yan!’”, Engr. Zamora said.
