PNIA Doubles Efforts in Helping Surigaonons

February 14, 2017

The Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA) and its members continue their post-disaster efforts in helping Surigaonons recover from the deadly earthquake that hit last Friday.

CTP Construction and Mining CEO and PNIA President Carlo Pimentel says that “Initial assessment has revealed to us that mine workers and residents in host communities are safe.” He adds that “emergency response teams are on standby and we are coordinating with the Bureau of Fire Protection and partner government agencies to see how we can ably assist in continuing post-disaster efforts.”

Mining companies and PNIA members Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation, Ctpcmc ERT, Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc., Carrascal Nickel Corp., Adnama Mining Resources, and Citinickel Mines and Devt Corp. launched their relief operations shortly after the earthquake hit Surigao.  PNIA was at the forefront in the delivery of needed relief goods and potable water, rescue operations, and cleanup operations of major streets in Surigao, ensuring the ease of rescue efforts of different government and private agencies.

“We shall double our efforts in delivering potable water and relief goods, packed by our own employees who are working overtime, to those affected by the quake,” PNIA adds. “Our heavy equipment are also available as needed by concerned agencies to transport those who would like to go back to their communities from their temporary shelters.”

“PNIA is committed to helping the community that provided it the opportunity to mine responsibly and uplift the lives of its residents,” says PNIA.
