66th Anniversary Celebration of RMN DXBC commemorated with free medical and dental services

Butuan City / September 2018 – Agata Mining Ventures Inc. (AMVI), nickel laterite mining project of TVI Resources Development Inc. (TVIRD), for the fifth consecutive year supported the medical mission of media partner RMN DXBC Butuan – one of the country’s top radio stations commemorating its 66th founding anniversary through a humanitarian outreach program.  The mission served over 1,000 beneficiaries from different parts of Agusan del Norte who benefitted from free medical and dental services, medicines and eyeglasses.  It also provided physical therapy and detox treatments as well as haircuts for hundreds of attendees.

The organizers provided vitamins, supplements, soap, toothpaste and shampoo to more than 600 beneficiaries in an active bid to promote proper hygiene.  Radio Personalities also led the games and other activities, adding to the festivities of RMN’s anniversary mission.

RMN and Agata were joined by other partner agencies: Department of Health Caraga, City Health Office of Butuan City, the Philippine National Army and the Philippine National Police.  Meanwhile, the Philippine Medical Association, Philippine Dental Association, Eagles Club and other business establishments comprised the socio-civic organizations who likewise extended their support.

Over 5,300 served

The joint commitment of Agata and RMN marked a milestone with more than 5,300 beneficiaries served since 2014.  This is in addition to over 147,000 beneficiaries served by the radio network’s nationwide roll-out of its anniversary medical mission.

“Agata has been consistent in its commitment to extend its support towards people’s health – as it has shown for the 5thtime as our major supporter.  It did not limit its generosity to its host communities.  But rather, it even extended here to Butuan City,” expressed Butuan Station Manager Ramil Bangues while distributing donated medicines.

Since bringing its operation on-stream, Agata has supported various humanitarian missions – in partnership with different institutions, including Bombo Radyo, the Philippine National Red Cross and Local Government Units – that have reached more than 18,000 beneficiaries to date.

It has also responded to victims of natural disasters and calamities across the region through the Agata Emergency Response Team.  It has distributed relief goods to neighboring barangays and disaster-stricken communities as far as Surigao del Norte during the 6.7-magnitude earthquake in Surigao last year.

Within its beneficiary communities, Agata already reached more than 3,000 beneficiaries through its medical missions.  In addition, there are some 700 patients who benefited from free consultations and medicines in Agata’s clinic, which serves residents’ and employees’ families.

Strengthening while sharing

“Our safety and health initiative is our legacy to our employees and communities.  It is not just for the company to reach millions of safe man hours, but also capacitating its communities in preparation for calamities or untoward incidents,” explained Assistant General Manager Anthony B. Quijano

“As responsible miners, we are always willing to provide assistance to our communities,” Quijano concluded.

Agata continues to empower communities within and around its MPSA in the municipalities of Tubay, Santiago and Jabonga of this province.  It conducts Basic Life Support and Mass Casualty Response trainings in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Agusan del Norte.  The company likewise maintains an Ambulance and Fire Truck in order to quickly respond to emergencies in the community.
