Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC) has partnered with the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte and related line agencies to help provide sufficient food supply to residents of the local community amidst the current health crisis. The Company has so far allocated a total of P12.81 million to fund projects relating to egg production, communal gardening, and aquaculture.
The funds were generated by re-aligning P3.03 million pesos of its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) budget and P9.03 million from its Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP) budget for the current calendar year. 12 barangays in Claver and 6 municipalities within Surigao del Norte are expected to benefit from the projects.
PGMC is already done with site preparations and has already identified project recipients numbering 3,332 families. The technical aspects of the program will be provided by personnel from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). The project proponents will closely monitor the progress of each of the projects to ensure they become sustainable and will create a long-lasting positive impact to the lives of the local community.
