Company Overview

Carrascal Nickel Corporation is operating since 2007. It is primarily engaged in the exploration, mining, and exporting of nickel laterite ore. It is also engaged in the exploration, mining and exporting other associated mineral deposits.

Carrascal Nickel Corporation has the right to operate the 4,547.76 hectares of nickel mines located in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur. It is covered by MPSA No. 243-2007-XIII (SMR) valid until July 17, 2032. It has 5M WMT volume of production and 74,170,369 MT mineral resource.

In terms of Nickel ore sales, the company shipped a total of 3,818,193 WMT worth US$44.44 Million in 2019.  The company primarily ships to buyers in China.

Contribution to the Economy

In 2019, Carrascal Nickel Corporation remitted the amount of PhP456.91 Million to the national and local government.

IP royalties amounted to PhP 22.7M in 2018. To date, the company has remitted Php268.8M in IP royalties.

IP royalties primarily go to social development and livelihood programs aimed at enhancing the lives of the Mamanwa and Manobos.

In 2019, Carrascal Nickel Corporation accomplished its Environmental Enhancement and Protection Program (EPEP) with a total cost of PhP65.58 Million.

Major programs and activities for 2019 are reforestation, rehabilitation, and temporary revegetation.

The company conducted rehabilitation and reforestation covering 555.17 hectares of mined-out and other areas with 1,224,431 seedlings.

In 2018, the DENR issued DAO 2018-19 which mandates mining operations to implement a Temporary Revegetation Program (TRP) on top of current reforestation initiatives. In compliance, Carrascal Nickel Corporation has planted 24 hectares and spent PhP74.6M.

Carrascal Nickel Corporation has spent PhP11.7M in the first half of 2020 for its EPEP, and has planted 86,288 trees during that period.

SDMP Contributions

In 2019, Carrascal Nickel Corporation spent PhP30.53 Million for its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP). Primary beneficiaries of the SDMP program are those from Carrascal and surrounding barangays.
