JCI Oil and Palawan Daily News conduct writing and photojournalism seminar-workshop

With the aim to build a community and to support young writers develop and grow their writing skills, JCI Oil and Palawan Daily News collaborated in launching Pangkat ng mga Letrista at Ugnayan ng mga Manunulat also known as PLUMA, March 27 at SM City Puerto Princesa. Project Chair Gilbert Ramoya of PLUMA believed that with the right guidance and full support to young writers and beginner writers, they can change the world through their words.

A motivation to grow and collaboration of their works in the writer’s community will inspire to write and urge new writers to be part of the group.

The whole day activity tackled topics about Basic Writing with Impact for News Writing with resource speaker Ms. Katya Santos, correspondent of CNN Philippines.

She taught participants on how to write a lead paragraph properly, timeless and with relevant content. Participants also learned the basic foundation of Palawan alphabet known as Okir taught by Mr. Jaylo Sunayan, an interpreter of indigenous people at National Museum Quezon Palawan branch.

Engr. Harthwell Capistrano, Palawan Daily News Editor-In-Chief.

Photojournalism topic was presented by Engr. Harthwell Capistrano, editor in chief of Palawan Daily News, on how to be equipped, knowledgeable and ethically responsible photojournalist. The event was attended by high school and college students from Palawan National School, Holy Trinity University, Palawan State University and members of young professionals group of JCI Puerto Princesa Oil.

PLUMA full packed of activities was supported by generous sponsors: SM City Puerto Princesa, Yamang Bukid, Berong Nickel Corporation, Petrosphere, Inc., Ancient Dynasty Kitchen, Water Shack, Shakeys, EGOV Program of Provincial Government, Ihob, Tatak ni Tatang, and participated by Palawan National School, Holy Trinity University and Palawan State University.

2019 President of JCI Puerto Princesa Oil Rexlin D. Azarcon assured the support of his local organization chapter to foster the development and youth program implementation to province-wide activities of writing and photojournalism to schools and universities thru a caravan.

Palawan Daily News Publisher Kent N. Janaban, delivered his closing remarks, thanking the full cooperation and collaboration of JCI Oil, and the active participation of schools in the City.
